A verse about God’s Love: “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)
Diane took over her husband’s painting business when he suddenly passed away. Her husband’s colleague and second in command was a younger man by the name of Dave. He patiently guided Diane as she took over, helping her to learn how to manage the business.
Diane’s deaf daughter, Maria, spent the summer after her sophomore year of college handling most office duties and creating a system to sort the company’s paperwork.
“My husband had many great strengths, organizing things is not one of them,” Diane says.
When Dave stopped by one morning with a stack of bills, he met Maria. The two instantly hit it off. After that, Dave regularly came into the office two or three times a week and they would chit-chat in between helping customers.
“One day, Dave came to me and asked me about Maria’s hearing,” Diane shares. “I explained to him that we tried implants when Maria was young, but they didn’t work for her. She can reads lips well and learned sign language.”
After Dave and Maria had been dating for a few months, there was a mix-up with the company phones. Diane later explained, “I got Dave’s and he got mine. When I opened his phone, I was surprised to see a lot of videos on sign language. He said he wanted to learn fast to be able to sign his proposal”. That was so sweet Diane thought with a big smile.
Prayer:
Dear God, thank you for accepting me and loving me just the way I am. when I meet people who are different from me, please help me to be kind and understanding. I don’t want to miss an opportunity to show Your love just because they don’t look or talk the way I do.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
